Happy New Year!

New Year's Eve we went to some friends' house to grill and let the kids pop firecrackers. It was really cold, but the kids didn't seem to mind. We were exhausted when we got home and all went to bed long before the crystal ball dropped. I think this is the first year I did not make it to midnight. I actually considered staying up with Ryan Seacrest and friends, but decided I was really tired and there was really no point and no one to impress. Not sure if this means I am maturing or just getting old and boring.
John had New Year's Day off and we went and bought MORE firecrackers and had our friends Kristen and Rich over for more grilling and pyrotechnic displays. Most of you know that Reagan is not fond of loud noises and before we lit each firecracker he would be sure to ask, "Is this a loud one?" and would take proper measures. He is also all about safety and would make sure we were all a safe distance from the flames and popping. A future hall monitor in the making.

Happy New Year!

This party is getting wild!

"And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
And surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne. "

Playing with the new Batcave. A crowd favorite.

Christmas in Broken Bow

The weekend after Christmas, my family rented a cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. It was just a short drive up the road and the cabin and area were beautiful. We had fun watching the kids play and open gifts, hanging out around the campfire and eating Christmas treats. On the way home, Reagan asked, "It's over? Is Christmas really over?" We told him yes, but he didn't miss a beat. He immediately started rattling off the things he wanted to add to his Christmas list for next year.

Christmas in Longview

We had a nice Christmas Eve and Day at home this year. Christmas Eve we went to our church service, came home and ate barbeque and opened gifts from each other. Christmas Day we played with the kids, baked goodies and just enjoyed being together.

Checking out some gifts under the tree the morning before Chirstmas.

Having some Christmas Eve barbeque.

What's in your koozie, Reagan??

Santa brought Ryan a horse, but he seemed to be more interseted in Reagan's loot.

Reagan's big gift: ANOTHER train! He (and Ryan) were so excited!

Checking out the stockings.

Christmas in College Station

We spent the weekend before Christmas in College Station with John's family. The unseasonably warm weather didn't lend itself to sledding and cozy indoor fires, but it did allow for outdoor grilling and fun with guns.

Reagan loved shooting Paw-Paw's BB gun.

I know, I know -"Hey Kid! You'll shoot yer eye out"!

This may truly be the only picture of me from this entire Christmas season. Enjoy.

Watch out squirrels. Paw-Paw's got a new toy.

Ryan's favorite gift: an empty box.

Cool Thomas the Train pajamas.
