The Great Outdoors

This weekend some of our college friends invited us to join them and their two sons to camp on Lake Tawakoni. We had a great time hiking, fishing, playing with the kids and catching up with each other. (Unfortunately, the camera was acting goofy and most of the pictures came out poorly - including the ones of Reagan's first fish.) Thanks to Keith, Rebecca, Jacob and Jonathan for a wonderful weekend!

Starting off the morning with the breakfast of champions - poptarts and powdered sugar donuts. Gotta have our energy!

Comparing camping gear.

Baiting the hooks - I quickly nominated myself historian for this activity.

Reagan loved watching the worms wiggle and wanted everyone else to hold one, but he too exempted himself from worm handling.

Reagan had been talking up fishing ever since we told him about this camping trip. He had been asking about every thirty minutes for the past week when he was going to get to catch a fish. Now that the time had finally come, I am not sure it was quite what he had expected. John tried to show him that you held the pole until you had a fish, THEN you reel it in. Reagan just wanted to reel in the line and quickly lost interest. After running around, climbing dirt hills and screaming about the dragonflies buzzing his head, he came back to try. John (who had been trying without luck to catch anything - sorry, honey) handed the pole to Reagan. Reagan started jerking the pole and line around like he was Brad Pitt in "A River Runs Through It" and lo and behold, not 15 seconds later the kid had caught a fish - all by himself! John helped him reel it in. Instead of posing with the fish like a proud fisherman, he took off for the dirt hills again. His buddy Jacob threw the fish back for him. Ten minutes later, Reagan decided he wanted to try again. John handed the pole over to Reagan. He tried his same scrappy, quasi-fly fishing approach and 30 seconds later, he was reeling in another fish!

Happy Trails to You!

Today was Western Day at Reagan's school. Each year the school provides a BB-Q lunch and singing program for the parents. The food and entertainment were top notch. Reagan's class sang "Ten Wild Horses" and "Moo-ve Over, Moo-ve on Through". There was also a guest appearance by the Texas Roadhouse Armadillo. Yee-haw!

Watch out Nashville!

Matching, Mischief and More

My first attempt to put the boys in "matching" outfits was a little lame. (Poor Ryan's shirt was too tight and the pants were too big.) After forcing the too small shirt over Ryan's head, he was really not in the mood for a photo session, but I was determined to document the occasion.

One morning I put Ryan in his crib thinking it was a safe place to put him while I went and got ready in my bathroom. I could hear Reagan talking to him over the monitor, and at first I thought it was sweet, but then grew suspicious. I went to investigate and this is what I found. So much for a safe place.

Again, determined Mom wanted a picture of the family, but Ryan had fallen asleep and Reagan had a giant piece of candy in his mouth. At least John and I were smiling!

Ryan: 2 Months

These last few months have flown by. Ryan is growing like crazy (we'll know exactly how crazy at his 2 mo. appt. Thursday) and really starting to show his little personality.

Lunch Lady Land

"I woke up in the morning put on my new plastic glove. Served some reheated sausberry steak with a little slice of love. I got no clue what the chicken pot pie is made of. I just know everything's doing fine down here in Lunch Lady Land." ("Sloppy Joe")

The Nursery

I guess these are the kinds of pictures you post while you are still pregnant, but I still had a few finishing touches to add to the nursery and I am just getting around to taking pictures. Non-pregnant Amy now wonders why Pregnant Amy was so stressed about this room.

Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter in Tyler - despite the chilly weather. It was a little sad to put the boys in their new duds just to cover them with coats, but mama knew they looked handsome! We also discovered how difficult it is to get TWO kids to be happy in front of the camera at the same time.
